Perhaps, it can be said that one of the best attractions in the Green Bus route in Fujikawaguchiko is the Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba (Healing Village), an open air museum with stunning traditional thatched roof houses complete with the magnificent Mt. Fuji as the background.

This village was once destroyed by a landslide during a typhoon in 1966 and was restored again by Japan government as an open air museum and traditional craft village. It is indeed a very beautiful traditional village, a must visit although it took almost 50 mins by bus to reach this place. Fret not; you will not regret it at all. Once we entered the place, it feels like we step into the past and we cannot help but marvel at the beauty of this village.

We are so lucky to have not only a clear blue sky but also Sakura trees in full blooms. It was a nice surprise considering we sadly missed the Sakura in Tokyo. Seems like ALLAH has already planned for us to have the best viewing of Sakura not in Tokyo but here with less people and a magnificent Mt. Fuji view.

More surprises to come, here in this village, there is one shop offering the rental at a fraction of a cost of 500yen! This is the cheapest we have found so far and we are so lucky to have late blooms of Sakura, a clear view of the Fuji mountain and a cheap rental price of kimono with unlimited rental time! Alhamdulillah.

As for the shop, the cosplay rental shop is situated at the top area of this village. You have to climb a bit until the top bridge and you can see there is a small house beside the bridge.

Inside the shop, there is a good selection of kimono/samurai/ninja costumes to choose from. You can choose any costume you want for the same price and the samurai costume comes complete with body armour and mock katana (sword) as well.

After choosing our kimonos, the old ladies from the shop proceeded afterwards to help us on wearing the kimono and offering us paper umbrellas and slippers to complete the look.

Since this is the first time for us to try kimono, we were so excited to try and took so many pictures with it while exploring the village. We found that contrary to other people experiences, it was not too difficult to walk around in Kimono and slipper. We enjoyed our day there and would love to come back.

How do we look?
