Le Maghreb -Moroccan cuisine-
Le Maghreb -Moroccan cuisine-

If you go to Nishiazabu or Futakotamagawa in Tokyo, you will find restaurants that will provide you with authentic halal Moroccan cuisine. Although about 20% of the customers are Muslims, the restaurants are very popular among local Japanese as well.

The owner Mr. Hisham is a Moroccan who has lived in Japan for 21 years. He is of course Muslim. The Azabu restaurant opened 4 years ago and the Futakotamagawa restaurant opened 13 years ago.

The restaurant is particular about reproducing authentic Moroccan cuisine without caving into the Japanese taste, and many of the ingredients are being imported from overseas. Although food menu is all halal style, they do serve alcohol beverages. *However, alcohol beverages are stored in a location completely separate from the kitchen.

On the photo is the chef of Futakotamagawa restaurant, Mr.Yasham. He is also a Muslim. It goes without saying that this kitchen is clean from any type of pork or alcoholic beverages.

We introduce a message from Le Maghreb owner:

Enjoy the “welcome/goodbye party”, “joshikai (girls gathering)” at Le Maghreb Moroccan cuisine! Week day lunch “2,100 yen course” and weekday dinner “3,000 yen course” are available. Please enjoy the staple traditional food such as tagine and couscous. Private party is available from 20 persons! Belly dance entertainment is also available upon request. The exotic interior design of the restaurant that are surrounded by Moroccan goods are all directly from Morocco. Come experience the exotic atmosphere without stepping foot outside of Japan. We named our restaurant “Le Maghreb” so that we can be the guiding light for your travel back. Please enjoy the amazing time at our restaurant with your loved one/friends/family.
Cooking class is held at Nishiazabu restaurant on second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Morocco is a kingdom located in western tip of North Africa and right below Spain. Since the country is surrounded by Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic and Atlas Mountains, the country is blessed with various kinds of ingredients. Moroccan food that uses rich amount of non-spicy spices goes very well for the taste bud of Japanese.
Since there aren’t too many restaurants in Japan that serve authentic Moroccan food, I decided to open “Le Maghreb” so that I can share the amazing taste of real Moroccan food with everyone in Japan. My wish is for people to leave the restaurant with the new found discovery of authentic Moroccan taste and its delicious flavor. I also would like our guests to experience the various aspect of Moroccan culture through our delicious food and interior design/decorative of the restaurant.
