Halal review: Kajiya’s kaisendon at Kamakura

I visited Kamakura at the end of March 2016. I’m very interested at the historical spot and beautiful flowers at this place. Walking around in Kamakura for a half day made me tired and hungry, so I decided to have delicious food here.
There is a traditional Japanese restaurant at Komachi-dori named Kajiya where we can have Muslim-friendly lunch. I can find this restaurant easily because there is the “Halal Media Japan” poster at the entrance door. If you can eat raw fish, you must try the kaisendon (rice bowl with raw seafood toppings). We can choose the toppings for the kaisendon, for example: whitebait, tuna and salmon. Kamakura is near the sea, so the fish are always fresh and delicious. If you’re not good with raw fish, Kajiya also provides grilled fish lunch and vegetable lunch.

The staffs in Kajiya can speak English very well and they are so friendly, so don’t hesitate to come. Once you enter the room, they will give the Muslim-friendly menu and explain clearly. I like Japanese raw fish, so I ordered the mix kaisendon toppings. The salmon and tuna was so soft and delicious, it feels like melting in my mouth. The whitebait in Kamakura is also famous, so this one is a must. For one bowl of kaisendon, the price is about 1500 Yen. When I visited Kajiya, the seats were almost full, so I think this restaurant is very popular among local people. I recommend coming earlier before lunch time to avoid waiting time. I’m very satisfied with the service and food in Kajiya.

After having my lunch and get my energy back, I continued to explore Kamakura. Have a great time and stay halal!
