What is the feature of your company and the products?

We are the only sugar refining manufacturer in Japan with independent capital. Since 1952 we have been producing and selling high-quality industrial-use refined sugar, non-centrifugal sugar (Jyouakato sugar, Honwakato sugar) in our factory located in Tokyo, Edogawa.
（We do not cater to casual usage such as 1kg sugar sachets etc. We seek your understanding)

Why did your company acquire Halal certification?

Since June 2014, our company’s domestic refined sugar, brown sugar was the first to obtain halal certification. 2020 Tokyo Olympics is approaching and we believe that there are many processed food manufacturers who are considering exports to the huge Muslim market, too. We would like to lend a hand to providing the Muslims with delicious halal food.

What is the recommended way of eating/cooking/using it?

ＫＨ1 caster sugar is the first batch of sugar from the refinery, so the sugar particles are small, white, of high quality with high content of sucrose. If you want to taste its sweetness more strongly, you can use it for bread, confections, cakes, ice cream, jam etc.
We call sugar that are made from Okinawa raw sugar (Okinawa is one of Japan’s best producing area of sugar cane) ‘Honwakato’ sugar. Blessed with good conditions for growing sugar, its beautiful milky white sugar crystals are thought to be like the coral white beach, and its unique feature is the soft scent brought upon by the natural climate. Taking advantage of the milky white features, it has been widely used as an alternative to white sugar, and is compatible with the use of dairy products too.

What are you looking forward to in Halal Expo Japan 2016?

We are looking forward to observe the change in no. of visitors, types of visitors, number of businesses coming for the event since the venue has changed.
