SEKAICAFE-Asakusa- acquired HALAL certificate

SEKAICAFE has been offering “barrier-free food” with consideration to not only Muslim people but also for vegetarians and people suffering from allergies. Particularly, they have been attracting many Muslim customers by disclosing the following information prior to acquiring HALAL certificate.

・Disclosure of information using pictograms, etc. along with having English and Chinese menus
・Not using anything containing pork or alcohol in the kitchen
・All meats used are meat
・Person in charge of HALAL checking all ingredients that are used

However, they decided to acquire HALAL certificate due to the following circumstances:
①Having Muslim customers enjoy their meals more safely and with better understanding
②To agree with “Grants-in-aid for HALAL certified businesses” of Taito district and contribute to regional development and inbound within Japan through the tourism industry of Asakusa area
③To agree with the goal of Mr. NAZEER, the representative of Japan Halal Foundation, which provides the HALAL certificate (managed by Okachikachi mosque) Japan Halal Foundation, to advance HALAL in cooperation with the mosque to make a “Muslim-welcome town in Taito district” for Muslim people coming to Japan for tourism.

Although they have acquired HALAL certificate, SEKAI CAFÉ does not plan on changing their concept of “a café where everyone from around the globe can gather around the same table” and will continue to serve vegetarian (VEGAN) menus to realize “barrier-free food” for not only foreign customers, but for everyone to enjoy.
