Steak is one of my favorite food and also one of the easy cooking food. What you need to do is just prepare the marinade and marinate the beef over night.

What makes me love to cook my own steak is not only because cooking my own steak is a lot cheaper than buy steak at a restaurant, also I don’t know if Japanese steak shops using a halal meat or not. Of course, most of the are probably not halal.

If you think that now is still hard to find halal meat, you don’t have to be worry because you can find loads of information of halal store in Halal Media Japan. HMJ has a great amount of articles that provide information of halal store, and stores that sells halal meat.

Here is the ingredients. This ingredients is for 2 portions:

Steak and Marinade Ingredients

Marinate the steak over night.

  • 600 gr of steak meat (use your favorite cut)
  • 1⁄2 cup of olive oil
  • 1⁄2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1⁄4 cup of worchester sauce
  • 1⁄2 table spoon of lemon juice
  • 2 1⁄2 table spoons of micned garlic
  • 2 table spoons of chopped basil
  • 1 table spoon of chopped parsley
  • 1 tea spoon of ground pepper (white pepper is better)
  • 1 table spoon of grape juice (as the substitute of red wine)
  • 2 table spoons of barbeque sauce
  • 1 table spoon of of hot sauce

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 Shallots
  • Thymes
  • Non salt butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic

Marinate Steps

  • Put all the marinade ingredients into a blender and blend it until all the marinade ingredients is mixed
  • Cut the meat into 2 pieces steak of 300 gr
  • Put the meat into a bowl, you can use the stainless steel bowl for cooking
  • Pour the blended marinade into the bowl
  • Close the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit over night on the fridge (do not put in the freezer)

Cooking Steps

Make the Sauce

  • Finely chopped the shallots and the 3 cloves of garlic
  • Put a block of butter in a hot pan until it is melted
  • Add the shallots and garlic to the pan and sauté it with the butter until the aroma is out
  • Add about 5 table spoon of the steak marinade and mix it well
  • Add the thyme (no need to chopped it because we just need the aroma of it)
  • Add half a cup of water
  • Cook it for about 5-7 minutes
  • The sauce is ready

Time to grill the steak

  • Put a grill into a high heat until it become really hot so that the meat will not stick (you can use either a grill pan or outdoor grill)
  • Put the heat into a small heat so that the stick will not burn
  • Put the meat into the grill (5 minutes on each side for a medium rare steak, 7-8 minutes for medium steak, and 8-10 minutes for a well done steak)
  • Be careful not to burn your steel sides by keeping your eye on the while grilling
  • You steak is ready to serve

I like my steak to be well done but my husband like his steak to be medium rare. How about you? You can add vegetables like boiled broccoli and sauted asparagus with olive oil and garlic, also add some potatoes or corn to your plate so that your meal is complete.
