New Course from Gyu-Kaku: Halal Course for everyone

Writer: Amie

Gyu-Kaku, the famous yakiniku (‘grilled meat’) chain restaurant in Japan has launched halal course using ‘Halal certified meat’ as a response to the increasing numbers of Muslims coming to Japan.

There are two types of halal course offered. The difference is that the second course is using Wagyu (Japanese famous beef type) and adding seafood in the meat course which of course, resulting in an additional price. The first course costs 4,500 Yen (plus tax) and the second one does 6,500 Yen (plus tax). The type of meat includes various parts of beef and chicken, and even beef tongue, which is my favorite. Additionally, the bibimba (Korean fried rice), salad and tofu are also in the course.

I and my muslim friends went there for Iftar in Ramadhan and tried the first course. The meat is really tender and juicy and the amount is abundant. The eating utensils are having special mark of ‘halal’ and we noticed the color the metal utensils are gold, while the color of the ones for ‘regular/non-halal course’ are silver. It shows that they really give extra careful in handling the halal service in order not to mix it with the other meat or ingredients. The taste is really delicious and I must say that we all are satisified. The price worth the food and the service, but it is a little bit expensive that might be difficult for students, and it might be only for special occasions.

The staff is really friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself seems to be new and clean. I totally recommend you to visit this restaurant, but do not forget to order at least 3 days beforehand since they need time for preparation.
