Halal BBQ Event in BEPPU Report
On 11th February 2017, The First Ever Halal BBQ Event was organized in the Beppu City with the collaboration from Oita Prefecture, Beppu City Hall, Oita Tourism and Halal Media Japan with other supporters (see list attached below).
“Towards making Beppu City, Oita Prefecture a Muslim Friendly Destination”
The motive was to contribute in making Beppu: A Muslim Friendly Destination. This event acted as a platform for local businesses in Beppu and Muslims living in Beppu to share their opinions on Halal Food in Beppu and discuss further business opportunities.
More than 100 participants including Muslim International Students & Muslim Families, Non-Muslim Students and Japanese living in Beppu participated in the event.
“Seeing everybody enjoy over Halal Meat BBQ irrespective of the nationality or religion, made me proud of living in Beppu”, “We wish there are more events like this Halal BBQ Event”, were some of the opinions we heard that gave us the encouragement to arrange many more such events for everybody to participate & enjoy.
One of the highlight of the event was the Halal Kobe Beef. The participants both Japanese and Muslims had never heard about Halal Kobe Beef and their smiles after enjoying the meat was enough to tell us about what it meant to them.
Many stuff are also sponsored.
Moreover, after this event finished, We organized Monitor Tour of Beppu for Muslims, which was enjoyed for the Muslim families including the Imam of Beppu Mosque.
In this BBQ event, local accommodations and restaurants gained the connection with Muslim residents. It was a big step towards making environment to accept Muslim tourists.
We will continue to promote multicultural society through the cooperative relationship.
