Hakone is a very well-known tourist area in Japan.
Starting January, the rest house of Jukkokutouge, Hakone, operated by IZUHAKONE Railway Co., LTD is serving washokuzen (washoku tray dish) with no use of pork/alcohol so that Muslim tourists can enjoy washoku food. They have recently hosted “Students from Muslim Region Monitor Tour” with cooperation of Muslim exchange students from Tokyo University of Agriculture and their family members. By having them experience the food of Jikkokutouge, Hakone and having them tour the company facility, they were able to discover/rediscover attractive points that could not have been recognized through the eyes of Japanese, as well as being able to assess some surrounding issues/requests, etc.
In addition, along with the free Wi-Fi environment that has already been arranged since the July of last year, duty-free counter is going to start from February 1 as the first ever attempt by the IZUHAKONE Railway Group at two of the company facilities (Hakonesekisho Tabimonogatarikan, Hakone Kojiri terminal). The Railway Group is going to continue to strengthen the correspondence toward the inbound visitors.
