Why don’t you try to cook it at home?

You know, when you are living in a country which Muslim is a minority, sometimes you have to be more creative at cooking. Especially when you learned that buying your home country food ingredients that mostly halal is harder and relatively rare to find. When you are watching a food network on the television and you saw the food that they cooked in a restaurant which they covered on the show was so mouth watering but then you know that you can not have that food because one of the ingredients contained alcohol, it’s disappointing sometimes.

Imagine when you were watching the Japanese cooking show and the food that they were cooking was a super-delicious-looking Ramen with Char Siew. As we know that almost all of the Char Siew is made of pork. Another example is when you were watching The British Super Chef cooking a simple delicious Fish and Chips and you really wanted so bad because the final result of the food looks very delicious and appetizing which clearly you see that one of their ingredients that is used for the batter is beer.

But, wait! Why don’t you try to cook it at home?

My husband and I love home cooking so much. I cook a lot and we eat not only our home country food (which is sometimes) but also other food from other countries. As you know, there are a huge number of delicious recipes that use some form of alcohol as one of the ingredients in sauces, marinades, batter, and even some as a main flavor. Do you know that alcohol doesn’t fully evaporate during burning and flaming process? Most of the alcohol only evaporated fro 75% – 85%.

Here is some of my cooking that I have tried using the substitutes:

White Broth Chicken Ramen: Soy milk and apple juice was used for pork broth and sake substitutes
